The AIA Inland California and the USGBC Inland Empire Chapter will be hosting a joint event on August 27th that will include a panel discussion focusing on Integrated Project Delivery from the perspective of the builder and architect.
Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) is a collaborative method of organizing project delivery teams. Owners, architects, builders, engineers, and sub-contractors are involved early on in the project – often at the very onset of design – thereby making the entire project delivery process much more efficient. IPD teams have found that this method of project delivery delivers measurable benefits in terms of project cost, project value, and project cycle times.
The IPD approach is complementary and conducive to two major trends gaining momentum in the building industry, Sustainable Design / LEED and Building Information Modeling (BIM). Focusing on collaboration early in the process facilitates the development and implementation of sustainable strategies that are synergistic and cost effective and reduces duplication of effort and rework, all of which are important aspects of BIM and the LEED Rating System.
